Building Resilience: How I Reclaimed My Health (and Joy) While Living with Histamine Intolerance, MCAS, and Autoimmunity

For months, I was afraid to leave the comfort of my routine. Every meal felt like a potential flare. Any shift in temperature, a risk. Travel? Out of the question. The sun, the heat, even excitement—things I used to love—suddenly felt like threats.
If you’ve dealt with histamine intolerance, MCAS, autoimmune flares, or heat sensitivity, you know exactly what I mean.
When your body feels like it’s turned against you, even the idea of living—not just surviving—feels overwhelming.
But here’s the truth no one talks about enough:
Your body wants to heal. It just needs the right support.
I recently returned from the Virgin Islands—a trip filled with movement, sun, unfamiliar food, and unpredictability. Six months ago, that would have sent me into a tailspin. This time, I handled it.
Not perfectly, but with grace. With resilience.
And I want you to know: you can, too.

The Path to Resilience
Getting here wasn’t about finding the perfect supplement or never eating histamine-rich food again. It wasn’t about locking myself inside and avoiding the sun.
It was about creating safety in my body again.
Here’s what made a difference:
• Eating to reduce inflammation—not from fear, but from nourishment.
I leaned into a lower-histamine, whole food approach that supported my gut and nervous system. Now I can gently test what my body can handle, without spiraling.
• Nervous system regulation.
Through gentle movement, deep rest, breathwork, and fascia release, I’ve slowly calmed my overactive fight-or-flight response.
• Prioritizing sleep and recovery.
Especially after stress or travel, I lean into rhythms that let my body reset and rebuild.
• Reconnecting with nature.
We are meant to be outside. Our circadian rhythm, immune function, and even histamine response all improve with mindful exposure to the sun, fresh air, and the earth beneath our feet.
I used to feel like the heat was my enemy. Now, I know how to manage it—finding shade, staying hydrated, resting when needed, and knowing when to pull back.
⸻
Trust Takes Time
It took months of small wins to feel safe enough to travel again. But each little step built trust between me and my body.
You don’t have to be perfect to start building resilience.
You don’t have to figure it out alone.
If you’re tired of feeling like a prisoner in your own body…
If you long to travel, hike, or just be outside without fear…
If you’re ready to shift from fear and flares to strength and safety…
I can help.
This is precisely the support I offer inside The Dirty Esthetician/HLC.
